CARY, N.C. – SciQuest, Inc., the global leader empowering enterprises to realize the potential of strategic procurement, today announced that the company and president and CEO Stephen Wiehe were recognized by the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA) with two awards: Software Company of the Year and Technology Executive of the Year.
The annual NCTA 21 awards program honors companies and individuals from North Carolina’s technology industry for excellence in leadership and innovation. Wiehe is the inaugural winner of the Technology Executive of the Year award, recognizing a CEO/CIO of a technology company that demonstrated leadership and is recognized in the community as a top leader. From serving on the board of directors for emerging companies such as BlueStripe Software and advising budding entrepreneurs, to keynoting and serving on panels for leading universities and business organizations, Wiehe embraces sharing his key lessons learned to help the next generation of leaders.
“We’re excited that 2008 has proven to be another award-winning year at SciQuest,” said Wiehe. “Our employees have worked long and hard to provide our customers with a leading-edge solution suite that provides significant return on investment. It is flattering that local and national organizations are taking notice of all that our employees do and recognition as NCTA’s Software Company of the Year is the pinnacle of their achievements.”
“The 2008 NCTA 21 awards was by far our most competitive with an outstanding list of finalists and a group of award recipients who distinguished themselves through outstanding achievement and superior performance,” said Brooks Raiford, president and chief executive officer of NCTA. “Steve has been the driving force behind SciQuest’s turnaround story, reinventing the company from a dot-com to a recognized SaaS and procurement leader. He and his team are a true representation of innovation, excellence and leadership in North Carolina.”
In addition to being named a 2008 finalist for Private Company of the Year, SciQuest is a past winner of NCTA awards, receiving recognition as Top Venture Capital Invested Company of the Year and twice as Top Growth Company of the Year. Earlier this year SciQuest was also named “Best Business Turnaround” in the American Business Awards – the only national, all-encompassing awards program honoring great performances in business.
