Canvas Appoints Prominent DC Tech Investor To Board
Canvas today announced the appointment of Mark Walsh, a well-known investor, entrepreneur and executive in the Greater Washington region and nationally, to its Board of Directors. Walsh’s experience leading, scaling and advising organizations across diverse industries and at all stages of development will benefit Canvas as the firm continues to experience rapid customer growth.
“On the heels of our fourth consecutive year of triple-digit revenue growth and what we believe is the much bigger opportunity that lies in front of us to help reimagine how work is done, we are thrilled to add a visionary of Mark’s caliber to the Board,” said James Quigley, CEO and co-founder, Canvas. “Mark brings an innate understanding of everything that can go right – and wrong – as enterprise software businesses scale, and his guidance will prove invaluable to our team going forward.”
Walsh is currently Executive Chairman of Homesnap, a pioneering real estate technology firm based in Washington, DC. Walsh serves or has served as a Board Member for a number of industry leading organizations, including TheStreet.com, Blackboard, and FedBid. Walsh was CEO, then Chairman at VerticalNet, and Chairman at Genius Rocket. He is currently Chairman, Board of Advisors at the Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.
“In getting to know James and the management team over the past several months, I’ve been blown away by how many things they are doing right in an enterprise software space where, in my experience, it can be easy for fast growing firms to lose focus,” adds Walsh. “The winners in the mobile category are companies able to quickly deliver enterprise solutions that disrupt inefficient processes without requiring that businesses toss out existing systems and investments – and Canvas is succeeding in doing just that.”
