SciQuest Names Head For International Sales Team

Morrisville, NC – The Morrisville-based firm said Tuesday that David Rimmington will serve as sales director for markets in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Rimmington will lead the company’s EMEA sales team from England. His prior work experience includes global supply chain work at software companies including Manugistics and SSA Global.

SciQuest officials said in a written statement Tuesday that the company has already initiated its move to build international sales. The company has added a number of international clients, including Swiss biopharmaceutical firm Apoxis; the Verona, Italy, and United Kingdom installations of GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE: GSK); the University of Edinburgh in Scotland and the University of Nottingham in England.

Founded in 1995, SciQuest initially sold scientific equipment to laboratories and scientists over the Internet. The company raised $37.5 million in venture capital before going public in 1999. The company returned to private management in 2001 due to sluggish revenue and the Internet stock crash.

After going private, the company switched its focus to selling software to pharmaceutical firms, universities and other businesses.

Telephone calls seeking comment from SciQuest officials were not immediately returned.
